Shelf-ready packaging
Shelf-ready packaging
If you are selling to retail outlets, shelf-ready packaging (SRP) can give you control of how your brand is presented in different shops.
Likewise, display trays and countertop displays give your products added in-store presence and, if executed cleverly, can give your brand a premium allure.
The benefits of shelf-ready packaging
Retailers don't have time to move individual products on to their shelves so the main purpose of tertiary packaging or shelf-ready packaging is to make it as easy as possible for retailers to display your goods in their stores. As soon as they receive your box, they can fold back your header board and have your products neatly on display, ready to be sold.
Rather than having a brown box you have the opportunity to create a custom pack, printed in the same way as your primary packaging to reinforce your brand awareness. This also gives you some control of how your products are displayed across multiple outlets and gives you the opportunity to make your brand stand out on the shelf. Taking up shelf space with a header card allows you to include branded messaging and even offers, such as 3 for 2, to attract passing customers.
If the packaging is robust enough you can use it to bulk transport your goods, on pallets, out to retailers, which again helps you reach the shelves as soon as possible as no extra packaging is required.
Considerations when designing shelf-ready packaging
Shops all have different height and width restrictions so always check with your retail contacts before finalising your shelf-ready packaging.
If you intend for your SRP to be the main tertiary packaging to distribute your goods to their respective retailers make sure you include this in your brief for your bespoke packaging. The material and colours will need to be considered to make sure all products are protected and your packaging is still shelf-ready upon arrival.
Alternative display packaging
Countertop displays such as this hair care example enable you to neatly display your products in a logical way and add branding messages to attract the eye at countertop height. They can contribute to higher quality perceptions of your brand as well as making your products stand out from competitors.
These displays can come in different shapes and sizes as long as they comply with your respective retailer restrictions. This packaging to hold toothpaste includes the main USP of the products it will display.
